ELNA is the Equality Library for Nordic Art music — a database of works by women and non-binary composers from the Nordic countries in the genre of Western art music.
ELNA were able to get up and running very quickly in early 2025 using one of our site templates and show proof of concept to their stakeholders. We could then take the time to create a new site to give a better view of their data (using the actual data !) and work towards meeting their specific goals. The team at ELNA were able to continue adding entries into the system the whole time and we are thrilled to see them now launch this growing resource with more than 650 works by 160+ composers.

## Tags
For this project we implemented a new system of flexible, hierarchical tags which can be used to group and filter entries. ELNA are using this to designate, group and filter works by difficulty, instrumentation, category and the country of origin.

## Products on Profiles
As part of the ELNA project we updated our API to now return products/works on profiles. You can also see this in use on our first Artist Template and it's something that we also expect to be valuable across a variety of use cases — from record labels to membership organisations.
We also found that our previous Algolia-driven search function was not giving predictably relevant results, so we built our own search functionality from scratch. We have much more control over how results are prioritised now. We also no longer need to separate out events, profiles and products and can make meaningful links between the specific data relations that exist within the Venue system.
We will continue to iterate on this in close collaboration with ELNA and all of the other organisations and artists who have already come on board.
